KAVIENG – NEW IRELAND
Kavieng is the provincial capital, located on the northern tip of the New Ireland. With excellent diving, sailing, fishing and surfing, it can offer a rewarding visit for those with the time and money, to seek it out. Visible from Kavieng are the many islands lying between New Ireland and New Hanover.
Take a drive, or cycle down the Boluminski Highway, a road that stretches almost 200 kilometres, down to Namatanai. Along the way, you’ll pass caves, eel feeding, swimming holes, waterfalls and charming little guest houses.
There is no shortage of accommodation in and around Kavieng, all with a relaxed feel; no high class hotels, no 5 star resorts. Here are some that we recommend and can book on your behalf.
