Located a short 10-minute walk from Lae’s Toptown, is Morobe’s newest 38-room boutique hotel. This is the second hotel within the City Hotel Group that just last year brought to Lae’s residents the popular and affordable Lae City Hotel and City Café. In a signature departure from the city’s other accommodation, Hotel Morobe aims not only to satisfy the business and functional needs of its clientele, but also to afford its discerning guests a chance to indulge, luxuriate and truly unwind in its 24 x Superior Rooms, 6 x Executive Rooms, and 8 x Deluxe Suites.
Guests are treated to a feast of colour which begins from the moment of arrival into the cheerful coral-pink lobby, and follows throughout the hotel’s inviting halls hung with vibrant and engaging animal art prints by the American artist, Pat Saunders-White.
The theme of ‘rough luxe’ appears in myriad forms from the white marbled floor, hand-distressed wooden reception counter, rustic Provencal
chandelier, and Asian-inspired blue-and-white porcelain lamp bases in the main lobby, to weathered wood benches and countertops in the breakfast lounge, and Perrin & Rowe Art Deco bathroom fixtures and tapware in the 1st floor Powder Room. The hotel layers multiple styles and textures together to create as inviting and hospitable an environment possible for its tired and travel-worn guests.
While spontaneous and extroverted in its public spaces, Hotel Morobe lowers the colour volume in its private quarters, offering guests rooms that shimmer softly in intimate Oriental tones, deep comfort, and irresistible charm.
