Kokoda Weekender

Day 1: Friday Depart Port Moresby at 12.55pm on Air Niugini flight PX856 to Popondetta. On arrival you will be met by the Lamington Lodge Hotel and transferred to Popondetta town. After checking in at the hotel, a local guide will accompany you on an exploratory walk around the town with a stop at the Popondetta Memorial Park which has excellent displays on the Pacific War. Overnight Lamington Lodge Hotel (includes breakfast).

Day 2: Saturday Full Day trip to Buna, Gona, Siremi and other villages that were the scene of bitter fighting during World War Two. See war relics, graves and possibly meet surviving wartime carriers. Tour includes village lunch and sing-sing welcome. Overnight Lamington Lodge Hotel (includes breakfast).

Day 3: Sunday Morning road transfer with guide to Kokoda. Lunch at Kokoda Mountain View Lodge and explore the Kokoda station area, Kokoda museum and war memorial. Take a short walk up the start of the Kokoda Track. Overnight Kokoda Mountain View Lodge (hostel-style accommodation with meals).

Day 4: Monday Morning road transfer from Kokoda to Popondetta, stopping off at butterfly farm and other points of interest if time allows, check in at Girua Airport for Air Niugini flight PX857 to Port Moresby departing 1.50pm and arriving at 2.25pm

  • dinners at Lamington Lodge Hotel (pay as you go by cash or credit card, or purchase food from nearby shops)

  • lunch on Day 4 (buy food from shops or markets en route)

This tour involves travel to remote areas where medical facilities may not be available.
