Rabaul Mask FestivalFirst staged in 1995, the Rabaul Mask Festival aims to preserve, in a living form, the mask cultures of Papua New Guinea. The festival showcases Papua New Guinea's mask culture and attracts displays and performers from all over the country, providing opportunities to see both common and rare masks.
Itinerary 1: 3 Night Package 6-9 July 2011.
Day 1, 6 July: Arrive at Tokua airport and transfer to hotel. Afternoon pick up from hotel for tour of Rabaul area. Visits can include the Barge Tunnel, Volcanological Observatory, Tarvurvur Hot Springs and Volcano, Japanese Plane Wreck, Matupit Village depending on arrival time and weather conditions.
Day 2, 7 July: Early morning transfers to see the Kinavai Tumbuans performance then return to hotel for breakfast. Balance of day at the Mask Festival.
Day 3, 8 July: Full day visit to Mask Festival.
Day 4, 9 July: Transfer to airport and onward flights.

Accommodation We are currently offering two accommodation options with this package: The Gazelle Hotel is a newly built 4½ star hotel in Kokopo, with spectacular views across the harbour to the smouldering volcano, Tavurvur. For the budget conscious, the backpacker rooms at the Rabaul hotel offers clean accommodation at an affordable price.
Itinerary 2: 5 Night Package 5-10 July 2011.
Day 1, 5 July: Arrive at Tokua Airport and transfer to resort. (D)
Day 2, 6 July: Full day sightseeing Tour , visits include Barge Tunnel, Volcanological Observatory, Tavurvur Hot Spring and Volcano, Japanese Plane Wreck, Matupit Village and time permitting some scenic sightseeing on the Gazelle Peninsula. (B,L,D)
Day 3, 7 July: Early morning transfer to see the Kinavai Tumbuans performance, return back to hotel for breakfast and then spend the day at the Mask Festival (B,L,D)
Day 4, 8 July: Full day at Mask Festival (B,L,D)
Day 5, 9 July: Very early morning departure for bird watching and sigh seeing in the Beining Mountains. Return to the hotel for lunch and a siesta. Evening visit a local village and attend a performance by the Baining Fire Dancers . (B,L,D)
Day 6, 10 July: Transfer to airport for flight out of Rabaul (B)
