18 Day AdventureThis is a comprehensive, 17-night tour that takes in the different cultures of Papua New Guinea, covering Port Moresby, Tufi, Rabaul, Madang and Goroka. You will visit local villages and witness traditional cultural demonstrations, swim and snorkel on unspoilt reefs and beaches, visit places of interest such as the Botanical Gardens, Parliament House, museums, spectacular fjords and volcanoes, and feast on local seafood, fruit and vegetables. This is an 'ad-hoc' itinerary and places can be added or removed to suit. There are no specific dates, so you can do this whenvever you like.*
ITINERARY Day 1 Depending the option you choose, depart from Sydney, Brisbane or Cairns and arrive into Port Moresby. Once you’ve cleared customs and collected your bags, transfer to your hotel for the night. Day 2 (L) Full day tour of Port Moresby. You will be picked up from your hotel by your guide and taken to see the sights of the capital and experience your first piece of PNG Culture. Light refreshments, including bottled water, are provided. Points of interest will be: Parliament house, National Museum, Art Centre, Bomana cemetery and Schwimmer Drome, Botanical gardens, stilt villages, harbour and lookout, Port Moresby City Tour. Pari Village Motuan Cultural Tour will include a traditional lunch as well as demonstrations of language, dance and tattooing. You will return to your hotel late in the afternoon to unwind. Day 3 (L/D)
Board your early morning flight to Tufi and check into your beautiful bungalow. Tufi Resort is set in a very unique and pristine region of PNG for the adventure traveller. With its clear waters, lowlands and highlands this region offers diversity encompassing soft and hard adventure activities dependant upon fitness levels. Beautiful white sandy beaches and scattered coral reef shelves make it one of the most exciting and visibly breath-taking coastlines in Papua New Guinea. Today you can spend the day fishing or snorkelling in your boat trip to some outer reefs. Lunch and light refreshments are provided. Return to the resort in time for a rest, shower and make your way to the dining room. Day 4 (B/L/D) After your continental breakfast, today you will visit McLaren Harbour, where you will board your personal outrigger canoe and see traditional sago making, tattooing and other activities. After browsing over local artefacts, you will be taken back to the boat and spend lunch and the afternoon on a nearby beach. Return to Tufi for dinner. Day 5 (B/L/D) You will spend the day at Jebo Village to experience Tufi culture. Day 6 (B/L/D) Today will be spent either snorkelling at Keikos, or taking a safari to McLaren’s Cave and waterfall. Day 7 (B) After breakfast, board your aircraft back to Port Moresby to connect to Rabaul. There will be a few hours on the ground in Port Moresby, so you could go up to The Gateway Hotel for lunch if you wished (not included). Arrive at Rabaul where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the night. Day 8 (B/L) Today will be spent looking around the very picturesque Gazelle Peninsula. Sights include the lookout, old Rabaul town and volcano, Japanese bunkers and local markets, as well as the relocated main centre of Kokopo. Day 9 and 10 (B) These two days are at your leisure. Spend the day sipping cocktails by the pool, or why not organise some diving, taking in the abundance of marine life and underwater wrecks. Day 11 (B) Fly out to Port Moresby with a short layover before your connection to Goroka. Check in at the beautiful Pacific Gardens Hotel ready for lunch. (Not included). Afternoon Goroka town tour. Day 12 (B/L) Today you will take a morning trip to see the famous Asaro mudmen, spending time with the villagers and experience a traditional ‘mumu’ ground oven lunch. Day 13 (B) Take a short hike to see the skeleton dance. This tour will take around 4 hours, leaving time to relax at the end of the day. Day 14 (B) After breakfast you will be taken to the airport to board your flight to Port Moresby, connecting through to Madang. Settle in to the resort and beautiful surrounds of the harbour and neighbouring islands. Day 15 (B/L) After a full hot breakfast, today will be spent in the villages and the sights of Madang. A packed lunch is supplied. Day 16 (B/L) This morning you will take a cruise around the harbour, followed by lunch and a snorkel and swim on a local beach. Spend time taking a tour of the island meeting local villagers. Day 17 (B) Morning tour of Madang and surrounding area. The afternoon is free to spend in town, or relaxing by the pool. Day 18 Your early morning flight will take you back to Port Moresby, to connect to your next destination. INCLUSIONS
