Martin Keating – PNG Holidays Travel Specialist Martin has travelled extensively throughout Papua New Guinea and has more than 20 years of customer-service oriented management experience in retail operations, logistics and airline roles. Martin has travelled extensively throughout Papua New Guinea. "Within Two hours of first arriving in Papua New Guinea I landed in Goroka in the Eastern Highlands - that was a culture shock! Over the next four years I lived in Kainantu and Lae and visited most other parts of the country. I have seen tribal fights fought the traditional way, attended village sing sings, Seen the Highland show in Mt Hagen, Chewed on Betel Nut, smoked tobacco rolled up in newspaper, I have eaten the best tasting Lobster, Coconut Crab, and Reef fish imaginable, overdosed on Bananas and the biggest, juiciest Mangoes you ever saw, I have seen the devestating effects of a Volcanic Eruption - but managed to go inside the volcanic crater first, experienced countless Guria's (mini earthquakes) I met and made friends with the most amazing and friendlist people that I have ever met - before or since. I have seen some incredible reminders of World War 2 - Wrecks of aircraft and Ships and War Cemeteries and Submarine bases and have dived and snorkelled in some of the warmest, clearest waters imaginable - So many fish and so much Coral! Papua New Guinea you just have to see it for yourself." |
