Morobe Provincial Show

Whilst the Goroka and Mt Hagen Shows are more publicised, they focus on the cultural aspect of PNG, whereas the Morobe Show is more like an Australian country show on steroids. There's the animal and livestock judging, agriculture, show jumping, fairground rides, food stalls and horticultural displays, marching bands and sponsors' stalls. Add to this the traditional archery comptetitions and guard dog demonstrations, and you have the largest and oldest cultural show in the country.

The Morobe Show is the premier venue in Papua New Guinea for some of the best traditional dancing able to be seen. The Traditional Dancing Groups perform at the Show on the Sunday after the official opening and the display lasts for some hours.

The range of groups on display is the largest variery and cross section of groups that can be seen performing anywhere in PNG and usually all provinces are represented. Between 2,000 and 3,000 performers usually attend and each year there are always one or two sing sings that have never been seen before or are uncommon.

Tourists and Tour Groups are catered for with accommodation and airfares packages.
